Let’s get into today’s topic, which is the types of people that the narcissist cannot stand.
From my observation, narcissists do not like people who are confident and think for themselves because it means that the narcissist will not be able to manipulate or influence them easily. They don’t like people who don’t care what others think. People like this are not afraid of other people, and they are the type of people to call out the narcissist on their crap if they slip up in their presence.
They also don’t like free-spirited people because their positivity and genuine vibe irritate the narcissist. The narcissist pretends to be happy and positive, so when faced with someone who is genuinely happy and positive most of the time, it makes them squirm.
Finally, the narcissist absolutely cannot stand people who are naturally lively or bubbly, as we say in England, and talkative. They can handle them in small doses, but people like that tend to steal the spotlight, which means the narcissist is not being the center of attention. They don’t like them for that reason and would start sowing seeds of discord to turn people against them or to stop people from liking them. One of the narcissist’s daily routines is to make others think evil of others, especially their victims. So if they cannot influence you in this manner, you are someone that they will not want to be around.
Just being one of the aforementioned types can make you a target for a narcissist, especially if you are stealing the spotlight or are more liked by your peers. Imagine that—just for being you, the narcissist wants to destroy you.
This is because narcissists are envious, jealous, and selfish, and they think that everyone around them should either submit to them or be influenced by them. Individuality scares them. The ability to stand your ground and hold a different opinion from that of the narcissists will make them seethe with rage.
At the heart of all this, the narcissist’s discontent is because they wish they were you and that they could experience life the way that you do. But they can’t. To the narcissist, life is just a game; their relationships and their emotions are all a lie. True happiness cannot be theirs.
